2012 Zach Ingram Race Report
Series: Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit
Event/Loc/Date: Round # 1, Nacagdoches, TX USA, January 15
Bike: 2012 Husaberg TE 250
Outcome: 3rd AA 3rd Overall
Before the Race: The Ingrams headed south for an enduro to get a feel for the new bikes and everything we had changed for the new season. I was really looking forward to the event on the new Husaberg with all the new and amazing products!
Race: The first test was a blast! I struggled with arm pump of course, but the whooped out sandy trails were doing me right. The second test was probably the most fun of the day. It was a little less sandy, and slightly tighter than the first. At the first gas stop I compared score cards with most of the pro’s, and realized it was going to be a race for second with Cole Kirkpatrick already over a minute ahead of me. The third and fourth tests were completely different than any of the other tests. There wasn’t any sand; otherwise, the trail was littered with roots. I felt pretty good through those tests. At the second gas I figured out I was battling with Cameron Ishmael for second place. The fifth test was a long 14.5 miles, about like the first and second tests, and I still felt strong. Going into the last test I was one second down from Ishmael so I knew I needed to have a solid ride. I gave it everything I had, but came up a little short. He beat me by 7 seconds in the sixth test so I ended up third overall for the day.
After Race Thoughts: I was really happy with my first race on the new bike, and am looking forward to improvement as I get more comfortable. The new Enduro Engineering tuned suspension was awesome! I have always used stock suspension, and now I realize how everyone goes fast in the whooped out, rough stuff. The Enduro Engineering stuff made all the difference. I’m now looking forward to the first national coming up in less than two weeks in South Carolina!
